Reiki healing is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The term "Reiki" comes from the Japanese words "rei," meaning "universal," and "ki," meaning "life energy." Practitioners believe that this life energy flows through all living things, and when this energy is low or blocked, it can lead to physical or emotional imbalances. Reiki healing aims to restore balance and promote relaxation, reducing stress and enhancing overall well-being.
Reiki healing is available, I have been practicing reiki for over 30 years. If you think it could be of benefit try a 30-minute session free.
 Principles of Reiki Healing
Reiki is based on the idea that energy flows through the body, and that this energy can be channeled by a trained practitioner to promote healing. The practice is non-invasive, gentle, and holistic, addressing the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing to transfer energy. They believe that by placing their hands on or near the body, they can channel energy to activate the body's natural healing processes. Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medicine.
### How Reiki Healing is Applied
1. Preparing the Client: Reiki sessions typically take place in a quiet, comfortable setting, where the client can either sit or lie down fully clothed. The practitioner may set an intention for the session or guide the client to focus on specific areas in need of healing.
2. Hand Placement: The practitioner begins the healing session by placing their hands either on or just above various parts of the client’s body. Common positions include the head, shoulders, stomach, and feet, though the practitioner may also focus on specific areas where the client feels discomfort or tension.
3. Channeling Energy: The practitioner holds their hands in each position for a few minutes, intending to transfer energy to the client. They may work systematically from head to toe or focus on areas that seem to need more energy.
4. Focus on Relaxation: Reiki sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes, and the process is intended to be deeply relaxing. Clients often feel warmth or tingling sensations during the treatment, though responses vary.
5. Closing the Session: The practitioner will gently end the session, often with a grounding technique, to help the client feel centered and balanced.
### Benefits of Reiki Healing
- Stress Reduction and Relaxation: Reiki promotes a calm state of mind, which can reduce stress and anxiety.
- Pain Relief: Some people find Reiki helps reduce pain and physical discomfort.
- Emotional Support: Reiki can encourage emotional release, leading to a sense of mental clarity and balance.
- Complementary Care: Often used alongside other medical treatments, Reiki can help patients recover more comfortably from surgery, illness, or trauma.
While Reiki does not replace medical care, it is widely used as a supportive therapy to enhance well-being and improve the body’s ability to heal.
